This is the focus of my work, and it is the most enjoyable both for me and my customers. The process usually begins with a discussion of some design ideas presented visually with thumbnail sketches. You can come to me knowing exactly what you want or having no preset idea at all (that is often the most fun and challenging). I will not stop until we are both satisfied with the design.

1. Discussion of Idea- Very simply, we talk about what type of piece you have in mind. Time frame, budget and other essential details are discussed. The total time for a piece to be completed depends on several factors, including finding the right stones and the complexity of the piece. Figure roughly 2 to 4 weeks, but I will accommodate rush orders whenever possible. Engagement rings may take longer.

2. Initial Design & Gem Selection- At this stage we narrow down the design. I will often present some sketches or show pictures of finished pieces to determine what direction to take. If gems are included, I will offer you a range of stone options. Often a stone will be the focus of a piece, and I take great care in selecting the finest gems available. See Diamond Info, Diamonds, Gem Info and Colored Gems.

3. Final Design- Once we agree on a design and have the stones selected, I will give a cost estimate for the piece. A deposit is due at this time, usually 50% of the estimate. Occasionally there are some fluid details, meaning that we may add or change the design in some way once production has begun. If appropriate, I will offer you options and the associated change in costs as the piece progresses.

4. Model Making & Production- The initial production process often entails making a wax model, as many of my pieces are sculptural. From this I make a mold and can cast the final piece in the metal of your choice. Sometimes, however, I fabricate directly in metal.  If there is some doubt in your mind about what the final form will look like, I can arrange to present the model for final approval - but this is rarely necessary.

5. Completion- Once the piece is completed, I prepare it for shipment. Final payment is due at this time. Upon receiving your new piece, and after allowing yourself time to admire and appreciate it, you may want to make minor adjustments - resize, change from matte finish to polished, etc. I gladly accommodate these requests to ensure that you are satisfied with the final product. See Policy Info.
