Sample of Engagement Ring Redesign Before: The owner of this engagement ring felt that the style was a little tired and outdated. It was fashioned in 14k yellow gold with a good quality pear shaped diamond center stone. However, the side stones were of a much lower quality, and the clumsy looking prong setting kept the diamond protruding far too high. After: The requirements for this redesign were for the ring to be made in white instead of yellow gold, to change the setting style of the diamond and make it sit lower, and to add some colored gemstones. After considering several options, we settled on this fine pair of round rubies. All of the stones are bezel-set, which gives the pear shaped diamond a cleaner profile appearance than the original prong setting. It also makes the diamond look somewhat larger. The Response: Upon receiving delivery of her redesigned engagement ring, the customer emailed me with the following reaction, and she has graciously permitted me to share it here.
