Shield PendantThis pendant was designed as a protective amulet against Banjar magic, part of a powerful belief system held by the native Banjarese of southern Borneo. The original had a banded agate, indigenous to that part of Indonesia. The stone measures 14mm by 10mm, and the pendant is 1½ inches high by 1 inch wide. See also Shield Earrings.
