Tiffany knew that she wanted a heart shaped diamond engagement ring. But she left the design details up to her fiancé - who then chose to consult with me. I told him I felt strongly that the best way to present the shape of the center stone was in a bezel setting. Prongs can sometimes interrupt the clean outline of a stone, and that is especially true with heart shapes. After some sketches and a few speeches, he took a leap of faith and we went with this design. I later heard that Tiffany absolutely loved the ring, which also made both her fiancé and me very happy indeed.
